Author's Notes: Written for mcr_100 (prompt: The Used). It came, quite inexplicably, in joint-third place - which I suspect had something to do with my ex-fiancé taking pity on me - but nevertheless, I was excited.

Bert tries not to let it get to him, this widening gap between he and Gerard. Getting wasted with Quinn and Jeph and refusing to let them talk him out of scaling that pylon or leaping from that roof distracts him for the most part, but then he’ll be reminded of Gee and something will twinge in his chest. When he thinks about it logically, he realizes he should probably be happy that his friend got clean, but the sting of being ditched is too raw for him to think about anyone but himself right now.
He has another drink.
