Never mind that it’s Ryan’s room Troy’s been in all evening, removed from Zeke and Jason’s impromptu hoop-shooting contest, Taylor trouncing Chad at Scrabble, Sharpay’s delighted squeal of “Hey, she looks like me!” when Kelsi accidentally sits on the remote control and “The Suite Life” comes on. Never mind that Troy’s spent more time with Ryan tonight than his own girlfriend - when the clock strikes midnight, Ryan knows that Troy’ll be ringing in the New Year downstairs, kissing Gabriella.
For now though, he thinks as he gazes at the boy beneath him, bright-eyed and gasping - for now, Troy is his.
