“Apple,” Chad says confidently, leaning back in his stainless steel cafeteria chair and folding his arms.

Troy makes a face. “You’re out of your mind, man. Pumpkin.”

At this point, Ryan chips in with “Blackberry,” and Troy nods approvingly. Ryan catches his eye and the two exchange smiles.

“Rhubarb,” offers Sharpay, and everyone stares at her in silence.

“I’m just going to pretend I didn’t hear that,” Troy says finally. “What about you, Taylor? What’s your favorite pie?”

“Hmm…” She thinks for a moment, then smirks at her friends. “3.14...”

Chad snorts and throws an empty milk carton at her.
