This is how far his mind could take him

There is one floating holiday at my school. The NW regional director decided that that holiday would be Marin Luther King Day. The SW regional director decided that theirs would be Presidents Day. It has been that way for a while now.

My students are pissed. I assume that it’s because their school schedule and their children’s schedule doesn’t mesh. It’s unfortunate and I understand but at the same time just like every other school we give you a school schedule at orientation. So while I can empathize it’s not actually my problem.

Until this guy:

This Guy: What do you mean we don’t get Presidents Day off?
Me: It’s the schools discretion to give you Martin Luther King Day off, instead of Presidents Day.
This Guy: That’s bullshit! This is America!

OK? Do you really have some special tradition you have with your children where you instill the values of the different great leaders of our country? Are we as a school infringing on your ability to teach today’s youth about women’s suffrage, freeing the slaves, war, the impeachment process, our first ladies, the house and the senate, the amendments, and the election process? Or do you just want to be the first one in line to buy a cheap mattress? Because while Martin Luther King did have a dream he did not have a furniture sale so I guess I could see why this is disconcerting to you. Asshole.
