Still in shock. It was only four and three years ago that I would go home after every game dejected after a loss. Well, most of the games. 6-26 the first season and 10-22 the second. It hurt, but when you're a real fan, you stick with it. Tonight, the Storm went on a 20-0 run midway through the second half. That's right - a 20-0 run. That which I had avoided all season - my trademark yelling so loud I get lightheaded and see stars - happened. I also turned to Melissa and said, if they win I'm gonna cry. She said, me too. So with two minutes to go I started bawling. I don't cry very often, so you know.....
The confetti was red, gold and green colored metallic stuff. I watched it float through the air gently, tears in my eyes, the glimmer coming from the light that hit it. Most beautiful confetti I've ever seen. Then outside, cars driving by honking and people walkin down the street yelling. Hugs with the other Storm fan faithful - who I've been going to games with all these years. Magic, just a little slice of magic and heaven............
Here are the haikus I wrote for the Storm board: :-D
June 1, 2000
first home game got blown out bad
rest of season - ugh
next year painful too
but for the Storm our love grew
always stuck by them
no fair weather fans
we sat through many pain games
some left, but we stayed
hope rose in 02
made the playoffs, something new
end of season gift
we got a real coach
then things started to happen
oo, here's an offense
last year, injuries
Donovan's brain made some trades
this team off the hook
tonight, confetti
floating down, seen through my tears
it's been five long years
thank you past Stormies
Charmin, Stacey and Quacey
Sonja and Katie
Sun Jung, Alisa
Brondello and Semeka
Lassiter, Campbell
Massaline, Starbird
