I leave for Nicaragua tomorrow morning, bright and early, and I'll be gone for a month. Needless to say, I'm very excited to be returning, I can't wait to see the people that I met when I went before. It will be nice to be there for more than two weeks. For those of you who don't know, I am taking my little brother on this venture with me. I have wondered whether or not this was a good decision, because undoubtedly his little mind is going to be blown by what he will see there, and I'm not entirely sure that he's really mature enough to take on something like this. However, for some reason I have faith that he will rise to the occasion, probably grow a lot, and I'm excited that I'll get to be with him for all of that.
A bit of a rundown on what I'll be doing for the next month:
- Tomorrow Sam and I will fly to Managua, where we will meet my friend Alice and spend one night at the Quaker House.
- The first week will be spent at a language school (location yet to be determined). It is a bit crazy that we're heading down there with no solid plans for what we'll be doing for the first week, but that adds to the excitement I think. Our most likely location will be at a language school in San Juan del Sur that is run by a women's cooperative there. It would be nice to spend a little bit of time near the ocean.
- My friend Katie will then join us, and we'll head to the central highlands region. The second and third weeks will be spent at the
Hijos del Maiz spanish school in El Lagartillo. Here we will also do some volunteer work within the village and will be living with families there.
- Our location during the fourth week, as with the first, is undetermined. We will be attending a language school, but we are not yet sure where. It is possible that we will just stay in El Lagartillo for an additional week, there has also been talk of going to a language school in Leon for a week.
I'll have occasional internet use available to me, like maybe once a week. If anyone needs to get in touch with me, that is most certainly the best way. So, yeah. I'm heading off tomorrow. After a long day of traveling, I will be looking at
this tomorrow night. Mmm.
Take care, friends.
