Washington DC trip...

Well I just got back from my trip to Washington DC... after about 2 weeks with 5 exams... one presentation... two quizzes.. and two assignments.. Thank goodness for a small break...

My friends and I decided to go to Washington DC since none of us has ever been there before... We left 9am Thursday morning and got there around 2pm.. We stayed at the Doubletree hotel and was able to see the Pentagon from our hotel.. it was just right across the freeway... There were lots of people in uniforms and in front of the elevator to our room was a conference room and the Department of Justice was having some type of annual briefing.. We then wandered a bit around Arlington, Virginia visting the shops and eating.. We also saw alot of people in military uniforms.. which makes kinda sense since the Pentagon was not even a mile away from out hotel.. There was alot of kids at the mall... I guess not surprising since it is near the capital... We then went out to Adams Morgan and wandered around several bars before heading to another lounge in Georgetown where one of my friends met up with one of her friend who was in DC for a conference...

The next day, we went to Georgetown again... It makes me wish to want to go to school in Washington DC... There was alot of little boutiques and shopping areas but parking was really difficult.. We ate at a wonderful French crepe restaurant before heading off to an appointment for facials and massages... Then we went back to our hotel, rested and got ready to go to a club... Before going inside the club there was a really good empanada place.. It was SOOOOOOOO good and made me miss home... *sigh* One thing I loved was the food... Around my school.. there is not such diverse restarurants... We partied until late and went to a burger place called "Five Guys"... that was the most delicious burger I had in a LONG time... It is better than In N Out!! But my taste buds might be skewed a bit.. bcs in the cafteria at my school where I have my meal plan.. the only burger I eat are some type of soy burger.. very icky!

On Saturday.. it was a day of sightseeing... We ate sushi at Adams Morgan... *yumyum* The last time I has sushi was in August... sadness... Then took the Washington DC metro subway system to Metro Centre where we walked and saw the WHite House.. My first impression was that the building could not be the White House.. it looked too small!! But there was a crowd in front of it and protestors.. Then as we walked we saw an area for speeches... and lots of cops around.. so it had to be the White House.. Then we saw the Red Cross building and a statue.. so we took pictures... Then we saw the Washington Monument and took more pictures... In front of the Washington Monument was a newly built World War II monument... it was interesting walking around and reading quotes... And incredibly sad as well.. there was an area that said.. This marks the price of freedom and I'm assuming each star meant lives lost.. very very sad... then there were the Reflecting Pools and at the end was the lincoln memorial.. From where we were we were also able to see the Lincoln Memorial and Jefferson Memorial but it was already 6 and we had a five hour trip at night to go so we set off to leave.. Before we went we dropped by Chipotle bcs there is no good Mexican food in Charleston.. I think there is a handful of places and I'm not really a risk taker.. But that is my trip!
