I woke up yesterday to an orange light glowing through my blinds. I thought it was just some weird light that construction workers were using next door. My eyelids were heavy, but that's no surprise since I went to sleep at around 4am. I rolled over to my cell phone that read 11:00am. What? It's in the middle of the afternoon? I slipped on a pair of shorts and stepped outside to a dark sky and a small, but vibrantly red sun. How creepy. I felt like I had walked into the middle of a sci-fi novel. There was a light crunching under my feet, and I saw that I was walking around in piles of ash. I looked around and realized that ash was falling from the sky. It made me think of the holocaust. Made me sick to my stomach. I went back inside and tried to go back to sleep.
My heart goes out to all of those whose homes are gone or in danger. I'm big on sentimentals, and nothing is more sentimental than your home and everything in it.
In spite of all this, things have been picking up for me. I haven't written in a long time because frankly, there has been NOTHING new or meaningful for a couple months now in my life. ..No, I take that back. Dazel and I were having the biggest rough spot we've ever had with eachother, but I think it's over and things are a lot bett er. I just really didn't feel like lj could help me in releasing my emotions on that matter. Bottom line, we're still friends and we love eachother.
Anyway, been spending a lil more time with Nick, and he's been doing a lot better concerning the phone, so that's all been good. I always love spending time with him.
I finished my first week in cosmetology school at City. I love it so far. Administration and staff are a little disorganized and not as professional as I could have hoped, but what can ya do. I'm still learning a lot and fact of the matter is...they'll teach me the essentials I'll need for State Board to get my cosmetology license in a year. Our schedule for the first nine weeks is as follows:
Mon. & Tues: Facials
Wed. & Thurs: Wet hairstylin g
Fridays: Nails
So we're all learning the basics on those things right now. It's so fun! An hour of theory in the morning(boring) and then 7hrs of hands-on stuff! It feels like a big slumber party! Everybody painting eachothers nails...practicing facials o n eachother...learning how to do fingerwaves..(which is really freakin' hard!)...woo hoo! My class is a class full of women ranging in age from 19-50. There are 3 guys. 2 are gay, of course. The other...is just weird and extremely annoying. haha! Shellanee's in my class so it's nice to always have a partner and someone to eat lunch with. Plus, I like that girl! Anyway, enough of that. I'll tell more later when the fires die down and City is actually open and class is in session again.
In other news, I met an awesome guy who's definitely a keeper...that's all I'm gonna say for now.
Much love to all. -Thanh
