Aug 23, 2010 19:44

Title: The Strangest Place in the World
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Warnings: Talk of mutilation, slight sexual hints.
A/N: Written for the second drabble contest at purestofprose - prompt is "corner". Created under the influence of Enya's Very Best of album and after discovering The Forbidden Corner site; The Forbidden Corner was the original title and the current title is lifted from the website's description. Critique is very welcome.

Why come here? Between silent walls, under my golden torches, do you hunt the ghosts, never wishing to find them? Here hide the courtiers no one wants to remember; they drift, heads always missing. Waltzing airborne dust lacquers your hair, ushers our resistless bodies past chained cannibals and bodies of creatures people refuse to believe in. Why not sleep? All the pathless children guard us, writhing on dark counterpanes, your head in my skirts.

When I castrate you with the teeth of the dogs you killed, you shan’t scream. The burned crows always wait, and do not like disturbance.
