Sean and I (and everyone, really) were discussing the fact that President Obama is creating a panel specifically for women's issue. We then went into discussing how UMass (state-run chain of public universities) has a STUDENTS resource center and a WOMEN'S resource center, but not a MEN'S resource center.
My personal standing on the issue was this: when you create a panel and resource center geared specifically towards women, you've now created a disparity between the genders. I am N O T saying that it is a bad thing or that I disagree with it's creation. I think it's EXCELLENT! I'm only stating that it is now a form of tolerated inequality.
Men do not have a panel or resource center specifically for them, where as women do . Therefore, there is a gap in available resources and thus a lack in equality.
Because of this, I was told that I'm, "ignorant, wrong and callous", in a nutshell. Am I as far off as they say? AM I all of those things? I don't feel I am, I really don't; I feel I'm looking from the middle to both sides.
I do not believe sanity is in numbers, and I think I have the better grasp of equality in this situation. Please don't be partial, tell me your honest thoughts.
