On a whim I decided to see Silent Hill tonight. Abso-fucking-lutely amazing. I took a look on rotten tomatoes though, and most of the reviews there were aweful. Most of them I think just didn't get it, but I did have two issues with the movie that may have contributed to why most of the critics hated it. The first issue is a couple lines of dialouge about halfway through the movie which were bad enough that I cringed when I heard them. The other problem is that if you haven't played any of the games or don't know anything about the mythos, then you will be really confused at a couple points in the movie. I didn't have much of a problem with this, but John, Luke and their friends(when I got to the theater I spotted them) were completely clueless about several parts of the movie, and I ended up having to try to explain somethings. The music is fanominal by the way, except for the music that plays during the credits. It just came across as an odd transition. Oh yeah, and the mood and atmosphere is spot on. Overall I'd give it a 8 or a 9 out of 10, though I'm leaning more towards the 9.
I was informed by my dad that the fortune cookie thing from before was supposed to be zen. In retrospect I can kind of see that, but the fact that everytime I read it this voice of a retarded kid says it, isn't helping.
