Today is National Teacher Day
In honor of NTD, i'd like to pay tribute to some of my favorite teachers -- they changed my life for the better!!
thank you, Mrs. Hummel for teaching me to crochet in 4th grade!
thank you, Miss Dear for trying to teach us about the stock market! thanks for also emphasizing math! thank you for making 5th graders talk about the 1980 elections (i thought Ronald Reagan should win because Carter had already had a turn. sigh. what a dork i was, lol!) and most of all, Miss Dear, thanks for being such a dyke!!
thank you to my 10th grade French teacher (sorry i don't remember your name) for teaching me how to properly pronounce words such as 'fauteuil' so that when i had my next French teacher, i would know that she couldn't speak French at all.
and most of all, thank you to Janet Papale, my English teacher & mentor in college, whom i still hold up as an example of what every teacher ought to be.
