Got the dreaded call.......
Well, I was at work when the insurance adjustor called. The initial estimate for repairs on the car were sufficient to declare it a total loss. I was trying to be hopeful and think the car was repairable, but deep down I knew it was probably going to be totaled. The way the cars hit, the frame took the brunt of the force so it has probably cracked meaning the car would never really be safe to drive again.
So, I've been looking up on a bunch of websites what the replacement price for the car from a dealer would be for my area and it comes out somewhere between $7100 and $7300 (minus deductible). So at least I know the ballpark of what a reasonable settlement will be. I wonder how much the insurance company will try to lowball us? I've already found a dealer certified car (same make and model, I like it), that is slightly newer with slightly less mileage that is only a little bit more than a reasonable settlement should be, so I think it is possible to get a good car if they don't try to rape me.
I'm still bummed. I wish I could have avoided the accident better. :o(
