Fluffy Tuesday again! (and I didn't miss it this week...) Anyways, the challenge was to write out of your comfort zone. So I wrote Narcissa/Lucius fluff, since I think their marriage was more arranged, than that they were in love... It's rather short, but hey...whatever...;) Anyways, set right before the fateful Halloween night.
Narcissa Malfoy shivered as she gazed aimlessly out the rain-pounded window. Heavy storm clouds obscured any stars in the sky and a thick fog crept over the Malfoy estate. There was a knock at the door and a house elf shuffled in, bowing awkwardly while balancing a tea tray.
"Mistress," the elf bowed again. "Master."
"Leave us, Dobby," Lucius did not look up from his letter. The elf placed the tray carefully on the end table.
"Yes, Master," the elf bowed himself out of the room. Narcissa watched her husband. It was the first night in weeks that the Dark Lord had not called him away. With a flick of her wand, Narcissa drew smoke out of the fireplace and swirled it into a flat disk hovering in front of her.
"Mostrilo Draco Malfoy," the disk faded into an image of a baby, sleeping soundly. Narcissa watched his tiny chest rise and fall with each breath.
"He's just in the next room, you would hear him cry," Lucius watched her.
"I know. I was just checking," The smoke dissipated as Lucius returned to his letter. His brow furrowed. Narcissa went to stand behind him, smoothing the lines with a touch of her finger.
"I've missed you," she murmured, running her fingers through his hair. Lucius grunted and kept his eyes fixed on the letter.
"The Dark Lord keeps you so busy," she kissed his temple.
"You should be grateful the he holds me in such high regard."
"Of course," Narcissa running her hands along his shoulders. "Can't your letter wait?" she touched his hand. Lucius looked up in frustration and she kissed him full on the mouth.
"Finish it in the morning," she whispered and kissed him again.
"I suppose," Lucius glanced at the parchment. "It's not that important anyway." He pulled her to him and kissed her deeply. Narcissa wrapped her arms around his neck as he walked them over to the sofa. A thin wail rose from the next room. Narcissa pulled away. Lucius was watching her. She straightened her dressing gown
"I should…" She turned and went to comfort her son. Narcissa heard Lucius sigh behind her. That letter wouldn't have to wait.
Argh!!!! I cannot get LJ cut to work. It works in the previews, but not when its actually posted...grrrrr
