Subjects 2012: Sorted.
My course is back on track and my subject crisis has been averted. Turns out I wouldn't have completed enough third-year subjects to complete my degree and so the system assumed I was a second-year and thought I was overloading. Or something, god I don't know. BUT, the important thing is that all I had to do was enrol in three more third-year subjects, which could be English subjects if I wanted them to be, so that's what I did. Unfortunately I've gone from five writing subjects and three literature subjects to three writing subjects and five literature subjects, but really, that's fine, so long as I don't have to take up subjects from other departments. That would really make me sad.
So my subjects for this year are, finally, as follows:
First semester
Introduction to Fiction Writing
Renaissance Literature
Contemporary and Post-Modern English Literature
Australian Literature
Second Semester
Advanced Fiction Writing
Scriptwriting 1
Fairy Tale Traditions
Romantic Era Literature
Yup. I'm most excited about the writing subjects, fairy tale traditions and renaissance literature, and the contemporary, romantic and Australian subjects were the ones I chose sort of because I had to. But hey, they'll be fine. Contemporary Literature is always a laugh (it's just a *little* bit wanky), Romantic Era Literature is much the same (oh the HORROR! *holds hand to heart*), and I really shouldn't be so down on Australian Literature as I am. And if one of those subjects turn out to be really terrible, I do also have the option of doing American Literature, which I would have chosen originally, were it not for it being held at a different campus (which I am able to travel to, but it's pretty inconvenient). So yes, hooray for other options.
ANYWAY, that's my rant on my subjects for this year. I'm so glad it's been sorted, and all things considered, quite well too! But for now, I must sleep. It's mum's birthday tomorrow and I should probably be awake for it. Nighty night whoever's reading this! x
