I GOT A JOB
So I went to a job interview for Luna Park on Friday, and it was a group interview with about thirty other people, so it was difficult to know how I went because it was all socialisation stuff. But I thought I was in with a bit of a chance because I have barista and food handling qualifications, and my sister works there and she's got a good reputation.
AND I FOUND OUT TODAY I GOT IN. WEEE.
I was called back today, and I'm working in food and beverage, so I'll be serving food and drink, coffee, making fairy floss (cotton candy) (!!!) and snow cones, and working at the photo booths and possibly birthday parties as well. Busy busy, especially over the Summer/Christmas period! But worth it for the good pay, and the structure it will bring to my life for the next three months that would otherwise be void. :D I'M VERY HAPPY.
Oh and for those who don't know, Luna Park is an amusement park. I think they have a few of them worldwide - they at least have another one in Sydney.
And it looks like this. XD
TO OTHER THINGS. Today is the last day that I can re-enrol for next year without getting a fine, so I thought, y'know, better get on to that. After talking to a friend who used to work in the Arts faculty, I've worked out that I can actually do a double major. English and Theatre Studies. And it wouldn't even require me doing heavy amounts of theatre studies either to fit it all in! I'm still not sure whether I'll do it or do a lot of English next year instead (or possibly Japanese, or something else entirely), but I'm definitely leaning towards the double major. Looking at it, I would only be doing two theatre subjects that I wouldn't otherwise want to do, which isn't bad for the prestige a double major brings. And even those subjects don't look too bad!
These are the subjects I'm currently enrolled in:
Introduction to Fiction Writing
Script Development 1
Renaissance literature: power and desire
Fairy Tale Traditions
Advanced Fiction Writing
ESL Drama
Playtext Study II - Methods
AHHH. LOOK AT ALL THE WRITING SUBJECTS, GUYS. I DIDN'T EVEN THINK I COULD DO WRITING SUBJECTS BUT I CAN. OH GOSH OH GOSH.
And and Fairy Tale Traditions = :D and Renaissance lit = taken by my favourite lecturer who is an absolute god.
ESL Drama and Playtext Study are the ones I had to choose for my major, but Playtext Study looks good actually. It's studying plays, basically, though from a theatre point of view rather than a literature point of view.
ESL Drama, on the other hand, looks intensely wanky. From what I could gather, it's learning to perform without using English, or any discernible language. (...) It's also taken by the lecturer who took Contemporary Performance, aka that really intense ex-druggie who taught what was probably the most full-on subject I've ever done. A little afraid about that. But hey, it's an actual acting subject, as opposed to theory. That's got to count for something right...?
But ah, I've just realised that Script Development 1 and 2 are on in the same semester. :( I doubt I'd be able to take both, nor would it really be smart for me to, I'm assuming. This complicates matters, because I don't know what I'd like to do in its place/maybe I won't do that major after all... I'll work it out. Gah!
Other than that, it's been a nice couple of days. Spent today cleaning everything but my room, which looks like a bomb hit it. I started sorting out my bookshelf, which looks lovely, but all the stuff that used to be on there is strewn around my room. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!
Also today I bought make up for super cheap. Aaand tomorrow I'm going to a meeting about the Oshow, which gets put on every year for Orientation week. This year's theme is Pirates!!!
THIS HAS BEEN A LONG POST IN WHICH I AM EXCITED ABOUT MANY THINGS AND BLESS YOU FOR MAKING IT THIS FAR. I love you guys. Big kisses xoxo
