The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Some movies are action and blow 'em up scenes.  Some movies are enjoyable just for the characters' interaction. And some movies are a bit more in depth.  I found the latter to be the case with Brad Pitt's latest movie.

I originally went to see this with the anticipation of seeing the handsome Mr. Pitt and graceful Ms. Blanchett mix themselves with a sci-fi(ish) plot line.  A man born in an old man's body, de-aging as time moves forward.  The special effects seemed good too.

But what I got out of it was much more than a visual treat.  There were quite a few life lessons that hit a chord in me.

1. People are a product of their opportunities, missed and taken.
2. If you do not like your life, have the courage to change it, even if it is not a popular idea.
3. Everyone dies.  We begin and we end.  It is what we do in the middle that counts.
4. Time is brutal but there can be moments that defeat time by enduring as long as they remain in someone's memory

I have a feeling that this movie will be a classic in my library.  But it will sit on the shelf with "Big Fish", rarely watched but thought of whenever the box is seen.  These movies strike a strong emotional reaction within me.   I will cry.

So if you are tired of watching superficial movies, this is definitely a different one.
P.s. just a warning though.  The run time is 2 hrs and 48 minutes.
