So....I have not updated in forever. You are all dieing to know about Italy.
Quick Update...I'm back...in Chi-town working my tail off but living a lifestlye that is fun. I feel like I live in a movie. However, it is a rollercoaster. Sometimes I feel like the stupid intern...other times I am the king of the world...making awesome dinners in my business clothes and having a glass of wine. haha. Anyways...more about that later. Life is good.
Italia.
Italy was everything I hoped it would be. It exceeded my greatest expectations. I feel connected to it. Some may find this cheesy but it is something I cannot explain. Perhaps, I have heard about it my entire life and that helps. I don't know. I just know it, "fits". And I haven't even been to Sicily yet.
Wednesday morning, May 31st I arrived at the new terminal in Detroit. It is a must see for any traveller. It is AWESOME. there are these tunnels with flashing lights and music. Greatness. Then I waited at my gate until forever. You know my luck. Delays until forever. Finally got on a plane to Newark. Newark was alright. I got to meet many of the other Italian-Americans. They were so cool. Jessica, my first friend...I called her when I got there. we had spoken prior.
After some waiting and casual mingling it was off to Italia (of course there were some more delays!). My favorite part of the flight was when we went past Nova Scotia and the end of Canada. I slept, a light sleep, for a few hours and woke up near Dublin. We passed over France and soon we were in Italy. The Alps and the coast come to mind the most. It was gorgeous. We finally arrived at Fiumicino Airport in Rome. I was Home.
haha.
Everyone got their Luggage (I carried on...yep...10 days into 2 bags!...I rock what can I say...Meet the Parents right???) haha.
Then we got on a bus for Tuscany. 5 hours later we would arrive.
The drive to Tuscany was really fun as I finally got to know many of my fellow Italian-Americans ( you know who you are!) We talked about important Italian things. You know. Like German Wirehair dogs (they're used for duck hunting), the fact that Italians have IPods and Dogs, the fact that they drive small cars, don't wear seat belts, were weird shirts, and have 37 jews in the back of the car...or juice's. Either or.
hahaha
The ride up to Tuscany was heaven and hell. We were dieing of exhaustion...but the views and sights were breathtaking. Cities upon small hills and mountains greeted me at every turn. Castles and ancient structures were everywhere. I was in a movie.
Finally, as night settled, we arrived at Montecatini Terme. A beautiful resort town near the thermal springs of the Tuscan Mountains.
We arrived at the Hotel Florida...ravenous. We scarfed down a ton of pasta, vicken mystery meat, and Tiramisu!!!
I smelt...so I went out. haha. I got back and eventually showered. I had to explore duh.
Anyways. That concludes my recount of the first day. More updates to come. Molly chill out.
haha
Thanks for following along...my apologies for the delays but work is making me an old man.
