I'm back from the APA Planning Conference in Las Vegas. The conference was great, but I didn't like Vegas. I think that they have some interesting planning challenges but I think that a place that is constructed on illusions is an odd place to hold a planning conference. And the place just continues to grow and grow.
A few people from Wisconsin got together last night to an all-you-can-eat sushi place in Paris, which was the best $20 that I spent in Vegas.
I did get a chance to go on a field trip for one day where we went to Red Rock Canyon (amazing and gorgeous, ohmygod), the Hoover Dam and Boulder City.
The older places (Flamingo, Bill's, Imperial Palace) are kind of cool in a retro kind of way. I just didn't really enjoy much there, except for the TWO Sephora stores and, of course, the all-you-can-eat sushi place.
I attended a bunch of sessions, met some consultants, bought some books and walked my ass off. I don't think I've ever walked so much in work clothes and shoes in my life. Also, there is shrimp everywhere. So much shrimp. Do people know that Vegas is in a desert?
