Alice is your typical Chinese girl. Alice is in love with Jane. Jane is your typical American blonde. Society allows such things, it's just that society frowns down upon it. Alice has been best friends with Jane for the last five years. She's consoled her after countless men have left her on the curb, helped her pay when Alice was stuck with the hotel tab in the mornings, and has held her hand thru a few abortions. Alice is so afraid of losing what the two of them share together that she cannot and will not ever tell her.
Alice believes that this is true love, that the joining of souls is enough for her. This is sad because Alice is so content with what she has that she doesn't see that true love is not one sided. What relationship doesn't have barriers and walls that need to be broken down? She fears that if she came out of the closet, Jane would throw her back in and not let her out.
Just today, Alice went to visit Jane at work. She waited outside the clear meeting room doors with a dozen roses behind her. As Jane walked out, filling the office with the aromatic perfume Jane loved so much, Alice handed her the flowers.
"Alice can we have lunch?" Jane flashed the biggest smile as she smelled her roses.
"Anything you want!" Alice was always a sucker for Jane's smile.
Jane opened the door to her office and let Alice in, locking it behind her. Jane slowly kicked off her shoes as she headed over to close the blinds.
"I thought we were going to have lunch, hun." Alice's voice was a little nervous.
"You said I could have anything for lunch," Jane had unbuttoned the top two buttons of her blouse.
"Umm..." Alice couldn't help but stare. It was like a dream come true, literally.
"and I think I want Chinese today." Jane started twirling Alice's hair while breathing heavy in her ear.
Alice slowly started putting her hands on Jane's thighs and finally after five long years, they kissed.
"What the f^C# are you doing, Alice? I didn't think you'd kiss me!" Jane said as she wiped her mouth off.
"I was just trying to see what your reaction would be if you thought I turned gay on you!" Jane laughed while shaking her head.
"What if I did the same thing to you, Jane?" Alice tried to hide the embarassment in her voice.
"I'd say, Happy April Fool's day, stop pretending to be a dike and throw you out this four story window." Again Jane flashed her smile.
A tear ran down Alice's cheek. Jane stopped looking in her compact and had a look of puzzlement on her face. Alice got up and headed toward Jane. A few more tears started to fall as Alice bit her lip to try to find some courage.
"It's been April Fool's day for me for five years living this lie, Jane." As if saying that finally set her free, Alice smiled. With more and more tears running down her pretty face, she took a deep breath and jumped out the window.
happy fool's day from me! i made this crap up!
