[Roxanne.]

[She] is navy blue and proud...
a flower who only shows its face
at night...

"Look at the stars and how they shine
would you compare me
rip me, tear me
somehow spare me
take me [home]."

Beautiful deep bloom,
velvety petals.
Stem as delicate as it is regal.
The petals float on top,
hardly touching
anything beneath.

"Look at the stars and how they shine
would you dare me
rip me, tear me
somehow snare me
take me [home.]"

During the day it is silent
despite the frantic urgings
of bees and butterflies
searching for pollen.
But it will only unfold its beauty
for the moon.

"Look at the stars and how they shine
would you compare me
rip me, tear me
somehow spare me
take me [home.]"

Touch the flame to my skin
palms outstretched,
thumbs working.
Whisper: run with me
and we will lead each other.
