Chi-roop!

I got my order today from Seigel's. I now have official American Racing Pigeon Union leg bands. I can't wait to slip these on my babies. The way it works is if someone finds one of my lost birds they find the band is from Seigel's and they call them and they give them my contact info. For more info on what I got check out sorath_blacksun.

Gosh I'm just on a roll this week art wise. I've started the next calendar drawing and so far it's turning out really nice. It's more than half way done. Check this out.

It's a scene of Owen driving his Corvette by the sea. I'm very happy with how he and the car turned out. It's recognizable as a Corvette so I'm happy abou that and I like Owen's experession. Let's hope I don't screw it up when I ink it. I'm going to have to pull out my tiny 005 pen for this one. I still have to draw the buildings on the hill in the background. The sun, reflection and clouds I can do in photoshop and I think I can make it look really nice. The wheels are going to be the hardest thing to draw. I always have a hard time with those. I'm going to blur them anyway to give the sense of motion. I don't know how I'll make them look like they are spinning though. So much I don't know about photoshop. Help! Anyway, what do you guys think? This will be the pic for July.

Ok lots more pics mostly of my pigeons, budgies and snakes eating.

I like this pic of Protist as she looks out when I'm opening the door. This was when lemon was still in the cage with them. Now it's just her and Peep. Poor Lemon. I miss him. The rest of these are older pics.

This was a few days ago. I put this cooking pan in the aviary and filled it with water. All the pigeons jumped in and took a bath. I like this pic because you can see the waves they were making. Water would splash everywhere. I'll post a bunch of these soon to the Sorath account.

I like the white pigeon on the right. He's lying down and is soaked. Some of them looked like they were drowning but they aren't. It just gets hot and they love to bathe. How's that for willingly jumping into a pot?

This was a rat I got last week. The petstore I got it at puts all rodents in these clear cups. I thought it was funny how he just fit and was so round looking.

He's really roundular in this picture.

And in this picture he's not roundular anymore. More like flat like a carpet. I had to take this pic because I've never seen Chopin constrict one like this before. It looked rather funny to me.

Oh speaking of feeding. I fed all the garters today. I got a tilapia steak and cut it into pieces. One baby hasn't been doing well and is too skinny. I fed him extra and had to help push some of his food down. Two bulbs have burned out so I need to get some next time I go to the pet store.

Oh and you know how they spell out bird calls in field guides? Well Chris and I were having a conversation about how to spell budgie sounds. We decided that the regular budgie chirp is "Chi-roop" the angry slow annoyed call is low nasal "Ynack" while the rapid angry call isn't spelled but described as repetitive rasping scream. Hehe. That's how budgies should be described in field guides. I was laughing so hard at this. But yeah this was the first thing I thought of when I woke up this morning and heard the budgies chirping and though, "I wonder how you spell that?"
