Oh my goodness. I have not posted here all year. I still feel I need to post 2022 year in review. Basically 2022 sucked. One of the worst years of my life. Luckily those are so few and far between. I guess I may have had five bad years all my life and I'm sure that's an over estimation. Two of those being recently. I'd say 2016/17 would be another one way up there for the estate and surgeries. Ok so it's my birthday. YAY. I did not post a wishlist here in time. I did on youtube though. I will make one here and not pin it. This year's list is easy. Ebay gift cards if anyone feels like it. The reason is, if you've kept up with you my youtube you know that I've gotten into repairing snow globes and collecting them. There are a few I want that I can only find on Ebay. So that's pretty much it.
The big news is, and I feel this is an early birthday gift for me, is we got a new AC yesterday.
This is our old AC outside. Funny enough I think it quit working around 2016 my other really bad year. So we've been without AC for about seven years. We've survived on two window units, strategically positioned floor fans, light clothing, popsicles and ice cream, multiple showers and hanging out at stores to cool off. Mostly I did that. Chris was at work most of the summers but I had to really endure the year and some times, July and August especially, NOTHING helped. I forget why but I think for one of the recent holidays, father's day or 4th of July Chris was home for 3 days. No jobs came in and he got to experience how bad it is. Luckily his credit was very good from having paid off both vehicles last year. That was one of the few good things from last year. So the first company we called approved us.
Here is the old attic unit on the right. It's totally ruined. And the new one on the left. The two guys that installed this were very nice. Oh but technically it's the first time we had "company" since we got the dog.
I wasn't sure what to do with Olive. Last time a service guy came over I just took her on a walk and Chris dealt with him. But this time it was just me and I didn't want her to eat the workers. So we got her old cage out of storage and locked her up. Though it's crappy in the house with just two window units it's even worse outside in the heat and humidity. Don't believe what the the weather sites and apps tell you. I've seen the reports say things like it's only 85 but my cheap analog thermometer is reading 99 in the shade. So yeah it's been hot. But we all should know by now the news lies to us now more than ever since the plandemic. I did let Olive in the house to cool off if both guys were outside or in the attic. I then would cover her eyes and lead her back to her pen. The few times she did see them she did want to go after them. One, of many, things I hate about my dog is she won't listen to me when I tell her to chill out. She should see that I'm not afraid then she should not be in kill mode. They say dobermans are so smart and read their masters' emotions so well. Well I got a real dumb disobedient dog. She's fine with people off the property. But it's good actually as her number one job is to defend me and the house...and the other pets.
This is the old thermostat. Probably as old as the house. 1985.
And the new thermostat. I like that it's nice and simple. It's digital with a light but not tied to our stupid phones.
Here is the new outside unit and my dog after the guys left. We were both very happy and could feel the difference. Oh my goodness it's amazing to have AC again. You guys have no idea how happy and thankful to God that I am. AC is one of the best things about this nation. Oh btw those fence panels in the background? I built those myself. They are part of the fence that I hope to finish soon and install alone the other half of our front yard to let the dog and the chickens have more access to the property.
Speaking of our great nation, here is how I decorated the entrance for 4th of July. I made that wreath too. It's not finished. I need to add the ribbon at the bottom because it's a firework going up.
Here are some of the snow globes I still have to work on. The only one that's fixed is the cute killer whale in the lower left.
This was a trip we took to Orlando. I love passing this thing. It's been there for decades. I call it the giant Mickey bubble blower. We went to do local pick up on some snow globes I got on Ebay.
This is Nugget. He's a Wheaten Ameraucana baby rooster. I tried my hand at incubation this year. I had three clutches. My last one went very badly. Story for another time but out of 8 eggs this is the only one that hatched. Since I'm the first thing he saw he's very bonded to me and follows me around the yard. Was cute when he used to follow me inside the house. I think he's messed up because you're not supposed to raise just one chicken. He didn't have proper socialization and he's having trouble integrating into the flock. So we'll see how this goes.
This is Ahab my good mama hen. She raised a bath of copper marans this year for me. All rooster except one hen. Sigh. She a blue favaucana.
This pic is hilarious. I was trying to get a pic of my lovely baby rooster named Penguin. He's in the center. He's a Swedish Flower Chicken. But Flask the silkie just stuck her face in the camera with that frown. Oh my, she's my smallest chicken but has one of the biggest personalities. I think she ranks 3rd in the flock too which is crazy. It's funny to she her kick big roosters out of her way. Also like her name sake Flask was 3rd in command.
Lastly this is my only female black copper marans from that hatch Ahab had. I question if she's a pure black copper marans. She's so big and thin bodied. She's not under weight just has a build more like a sumatra than a heavy marans. Also her crest and wattles are black still. She is getting some copper on her hackles but I'll have to see what color her eggs are.
Ok so that's all for now. I've caught up on the most recent stuff but will try to post about what happened in previous months. I hope to have more time to write stuff here. I miss it and digital art. I just have not had time. I will get back to it eventually, both of them. You'll see. I always do.
