TV: What I've been watching...

Kemono no Souja Erin, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Stargate SG-1

{*} I've watched the first 25 episodes of Kemono no Souja Erin. It is clear that this is a children's anime, but I enjoy it nevertheless. I really like the slow build of the story and how it unfolds so far. And I like Erin, the main character of the story. She is clever and smart and brave and sometimes annoying. I like that what makes her special is the ability to listen and learn and think for herself. She is taught but she also teaches herself. She is calm and focused, but she can make herself heard, and she doesn't bow to convention when she does know better.

There are a two things that annoy me though:
1. The flashbacks. Well done they can work for a story's advantage, but here it's a bit too much. I know that children aren't that stupid that they forget what happened last week in the storyline.
2. The brothers. They seem to be worked in as comic relief, but they really didn't seem to learn anything, at least until episode 25. Still, I don't think they are necessary that I can overlook their antics.

{*} I've also watched the first episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. And yay, this is excellent! I love Sarah. I'm not that fond of female character whose life centers only around a male character, but here I understand it. She loves her son, and would do anything to protect him. I see her trauma, but she lives with it as good as she can. I can't wait to see more of this show.

Does anybody any early season 1 recs? I take gen, het, slash, femme-slash, g-nc17.

{*} I've re-watched Forever in a Day, and oh, my heart it breaks. I'm not Daniel's biggest fan, but I can't help but tear up whenever I watch this episode. I love Stargate SG-1 for what it is, but I still it had so much more potential. To see it killed off, time and again makes me angry.
