Harry Potter, Bellatrix

Is it just me, or is Bellatrix in the Harry Potter movies weirdly sexually charged? Her character I mean. We don't really have that with the other female characters.

Ah, good to know. I think the implications of this a little creepy. Like connecting evil and sexuality.

Definitely not just you. I think that this is also present a bit in the books---she's described as looking at Voldemort very intensely, like a lover.

I think that Bellatrix is the only female character we meet who's not at any point underage, a teacher, or a mother. I doubt it's a coincidence on the part of JKR or Warner that she's also the one who is most overtly sexual (and perhaps most cruel).

I really think it's creepy. Like conflating female sexuality with evilness.

I wonder whether it's because she isn't a mother. Even Narcissa, described as cool and aloof when we first meet her, is more mother than woman. And perhaps it's something that redeems her.
