I had to make a tough decision today. I had to stop my biweekly contributions to my RRSP because I simply do not make enough to cover my monthly expenses and contribute for retirement at the same time outside of my pension anymore. I only make just over $2200 monthly take home and with the contributions, and all of my expenses I was paying out $2050 just in necessary costs per month all told. Rent alone is $810. This did not include debt payments (line of credit or Credit card), groceries, car fuel ($50 monthly), or entertainment.
I am sad I had to do this but I can no longer live in deficit every month, it is going to get out of hand too soon. This will free up $300 a month that I can now assign to other things. I am very tempted to redirect it towards auto payments on my credit card above and beyond the regular monthly payments I make out of the remaining $150 I have on hand so to start chipping away at it to get her gone. I have about $18,000 in debt all together, which doesn't sound outlandishly terrible, but on my income it is getting difficult to carry. I HAVE to do something.
Grrr. Every time I start making progress something large comes up that has to be put on credit.
sad.
good day all.
