Dead Rising 2 is on sale on the Humble Store for $6 USD. I had some humble wallet credit so I got it for $5. It's... a bit much to spend for me right now but it's DR and this is the cheapest it's ever been. I think it's some kind of Halloween sale?
Anyway, the game has co-op multiplayer (2 players only) and a weird 4-player gameshow thing (I've never tried it really).
I have it on PS3 but I can't really play my PS3 anymore because I don't have a TV, plus I like playing games on PC anymore anyway...
I never really played DR2 much but I got all the achievements in the first one on 360. It's a really cool game and DR2 looks just as good. You don't have to play them in order AFAIK.
The game runs great on my laptop, which I was worried about, because some other big Capcom games run slow, even Resident Evil 4 which is much older than Dead Rising 2 (but I'm guessing RE4 is just a bad port).
Here's some screenies of Chuck because I love him very much, and a few little things about the game:
Look how intently he stares at the wrench XD
This is his daughter Katey and I love her too. Basically the main goal of the game is to keep her safe. She is infected and needs medicine, but the medicine is rare so you need to find it (or money to buy it) by venturing into the zombie-infested gambling city.
Sad face worrying about Katey when this guy mentions "next of kin." Poor Chuck and Katey :( I love themmmm
Everyone is mean and teases and/or insults Chuck all the time and I don't know why lol. Poor Chuck :( He's just trying to help his little girl...
You save the game be peeing. In DR1 there were open urinals and you got to see Frank unzip and position himself and sigh with relief before the save GUI came up. Obviously I LIKED THAT A LOT. I don't remember if that happens in this game... this bathroom only had stalls, and chuck just touches the door and then the save window pops... :(
I'm probably in a very tiny minority but I love Chuck more than Frank. Which, don't get me wrong, I REALLY REALLY love Frank but I just love Chuck even more XD He's tall, has a long face, is a dad, has cute daughter, on quest for medicine, everyone mean to him and he's quiet... I just super love him. Frank had a more outgoing and funny personality so I get why people liked him more, when Chuck is kinda stoic. But I feel like I relate to Chuck more and he's way hotter so XDD (Frank is hot too tho, especially later in series when he starts balding haha)
Chuck looking this naked guy up and down XD This is still in the intro part so there's no real danger so we can just kinda wander around. Katey is waiting for us in the 'Green Room' of this... arena... studio... thing where we just won a game show.
Waiting for elevator, Chuck gets bullied some more :( But look at his gorgeous face.
Ad for the medicine that you need for Katey. If she does not have the medicine she turns into a zombie, and it only lasts 24 hours :(
Anyway that's my little intro to DR2. I've never played the co-op but would be up for playing if anyone else gets the game ^_^ It might need a pretty decent computer to run though? Check the system
Zombies break lose while you're on the elevator, and you escape and gotta go rescue Katey. I found this big dildo on the ground to hit zombies with. It wasn't very effective but worked better than the purse I found. I was using a guitar and a chair too but they broke.
A big part of Dead Rising is that you use a large variety of items that you find as you go, instead of just having a gun or whatever. All items will break the more you wear them out so you have to keep finding new items, and you can only carry a small amount of things on your person anyway. There are powerful weapons like guns, chainsaws, bats, etc. but also tons of weird things like plushies and teddies, golf balls, etc. There's also a variety of food items to heal yourself.
New in DR2 is the ability to create new items like... putting multiple items together? Like find nails and baseball bat and make nail bat... but there's a lot of weird stuff you can make, it's really outlandish and funny.
You can also wear clothes you find for no real reason other than it's fun. I always dressed Frank up a lot in the first game XD
Anyway, that's my little intro to DR2. I would play co-op if anyone wants to! I've never done it before. But it might take a decent computer to run it so check the requirements before you buy it of course. (Somehow LJ like cut out a big part of the original paragraph here so I just typed a shorter version lol)
