Yeah, the love letter part is one of the most memorable scenes in the game somehow :) I say somehow not because there's anything wrong with it, but because I feel this entire game is so memorable and fantastic, that it's weird that this one scene tends to particularly stand out.

I definitely appreciate Dagger's mute time from a writing perspective but I WANNA USE HER A LOT AND MAKER HER THE BIG STRONG ALL THE TIME.

It took me a long time to come around to Amarant. I think when I first played this game, I didn't appreciate certain kinds of characters very well, and that kinda stuck for a while. Certain characters didn't stick well with me and I tended to only like characters who were good and pure like Sailor Moon lmfao. I even hated Eiko and had difficulty enjoying Freya my first time through. IDK why I was like that back then, but I pretty quickly warmed up to Freya and now I just absolutely love every character in this game, even the most minor ones (er, maybe not Fratley LOL) because of how well everyone is written. It's beautiful *tear* but yeah Amarant is really interesting, and I think his subtlety makes him more of a 'mystery' like his character is supposed to be. He actually develops a lot, and really well, but it doesn't change his core personality, which I think is great.

I kinda wish Zidane was a little nicer to Quina, but I think part of the reason he's like that is because he knows the way he walks doesn't hurt Quina. In the beginning, Zidane doesn't have a lot of respect for Steiner... just basic respect as a person, but he dislikes the way he treats Dagger and everyone, so he's quick to insult him and stuff. But as Steiner changes, Zidane's respect for him grows, and you can noticeably see Zidane treating him different. I mean Zidane teases everyone, but he definitely treats Steiner as a friend. He kinda just... treats Quina like an annoyance but maybe it's just a more 'extreme' kind of teasing since he knows Quina is cool with it. IDK lol (this is in "response" to them being together for the shrine lol)

I didn't even bother with the enero family quest thing. I kinda forgot about it until after Memoria anyway, but maybe I would have tried if I had remembered. I was kinda eager to get to the secret snyth shop and while I was there just finished it up. It would have been nice to have the extra Protect Ring, though.

I agree. The game has a plethora of memorable moments, to an almost ridiculous degree, but the love letter sequence always sticks out to me somehow.

I'm glad Amarant grew on you! He was initially my favorite character, and while he's not my top favorite anymore, he's still among the top. I remember when I first got into the fandom, and a lot of the fanbase carried a lot of hate for him. Now I wonder if it was mostly younger fans who didn't see the more subtle character arc, and just thought he was a big jerk. Hm.

Who is your favorite now? It's probably pretty obvious mine is Dagger :P Though I love every character in this game. Maybe not Zorn and Thorn hahaha. JK I love them but they are annoying little twerps... but they're supposed to be, so it's fine :)

And yeah, even though I was like 15-16 when I was playing this game the firs time, I still couldn't see him as anything but an asshole. Because I kinda hated him from the start, I didn't pay him much mind and kinda missed out on his development. But now I think he's a really great and interesting character and love him a lot.

My favorite character is probably Kuja. Great design, awesome dialogue, incredible theme(s), climatic boss battles, sympathetic, yet threatening...he's great. Still gets my vote for best FF villain.

Amarant, Vivi and Dagger are neck-in-neck for the second spot. With everyone else fighting for third. Well, except Fratley. So basically:

1. Kuja
2. Amarant/Vivi/Dagger
3. Almost everyone else of importance
4.NPCs of no importance
5.Fratley

Ah yeah I really love Kuja too! I didn't really talk about him much this play though. But he is my favorite villain in the series, too.

I love how even like... The person who throws a tantrum about the no vacancies in Alexandria is better than Fratley, but then thinking about it... They really are LOL they at least contribute to the setting/atmosphere, and are realistic and written well for what they do say.
