The joy of cars.

As many people may or may not know, i drive a van. It took me quite abit of getting used to driving a van but after a while i became quite attached and even went so far as to say i displayed some van pride. It was tacky, but it was kinda retro tacky. What most people also dont know is that for the past 4 weeks its been in the garage as it keeps overheating where my poor dad has been replacing different pipes as they all seem to keep exploding. (kinda like a domino effect) to the point where its now the radiator playing up. Anyhow today he gives me a bottle of radiator unblockage fluid and tells me to fill the radiator up with it, and go for a drive.

"Dont worry if it overheats, the temperature will go up, but then eventually will go down."

With these words of wisdom i go off on a drive. Things are going fine, the temperature is normal, so i decide to venture out a bit further. Still fine. I begin to think that everything is hunky dorey so decide to fill up petrol and head home. On the long(ish) trek home the temperature begins to rise. Slowly at first. Then faster. Until it reaches the line just below the red. No problem i think to myself, it'll start going down anytime soon.

i was wrong.

It just kept rising up. Shit i thought to myself, i better pull into this little car park and let it cool down. i dont think its going to be able to get the rest of the way home. Mind you this is in the middle of a thunderstorm so you can throw in the factor of alot of rain. I pull into this carpark and lift the bonnet. (The engine is next to me and u just lift the seat to get to it) This thing is hissing away like an angry rattlesnake. Now i know your not meant to take the cap off when its that hot as you'll burn urself etc which is why i had a bedsheet. The plan being to slowly release it so the pressure escapes faster etc, then remove the cap. Unfortunately the cap was abit weird and i had trouble figuring out when was too little and when was too much.

Well i did kinda find out when was too much...

The thing just rocketed out of that radiator like a bat out of hell as steam and shitty radiator water flew outta it, it kinda made a sound as well like a PSSSHHHHHHHHHH. i kinda shielded my face and turned to avoid the volcanic eruption occuring in my car so didnt get burnt or anything. (i was outside at the time luckily tinkering so just moved back) When the volcanic eruption subsided my car was a mess, dirty radiator water dripped from my roof, front windscreen, seat, back seat. i couldnt help but laugh.

After my laughter subsided i refilled the radiator and went to put on the cap. No cap. i searched everywhere for the cap including outside the car. No cap. For the sake of this entry i will presume that it vaporised under the heat of the volcanic eruption. Great. Now i had to drive home with the bonnet up and radiator cap not on. As i drove home i realised the job that the radiator cap does as angry radiator fluid spurted up at me, drenching my tracksuit pants. Now i have dirty radiatory fluid water pants on top of everything. My car is drenched in dirty radiator fluid water and im missing a radiator cap.

God i hate vans.
