Okay so.

instantkarmadk is resigning as a moderator here. I think she did a great job of injecting some new life into the community and bringing some neat ideas to the table, and hopefully this can continue! Unfortunately, I am definitely WAY too busy to take over the community again (moving in less than three weeks, eek!). Which means...new mod time

We reupload them for several reasons.

One is that most people use free image uploading services, which generally have bandwidth restrictions. When I was uploading the secrets, I had a paid photobucket account with unlimited bandwidth (I never gave the password to Linda because I forgot, so the newer ones were uploaded elsewhere). Ideally, we want the secrets to stay up for months after the fact, so that people can go back and look at old secrets for a laugh (or so that we can do "Greatest Hits" posts again).

Another reason is that we don't want the users to have control over the secrets once they're posted. What's to stop somebody from submitting an innocuous secret, then replacing it with something super mean and totally against community rules? Reuploading them gives the moderators the ability to control them. It's unfortunate that something like this is necessary, but I think we all know what the trolls around here are like.

And I'd love for the community to have multiple moderators, but we're having enough difficulty keeping even ONE around for very long...what are the odds we can rope more than one person into doing it? :P Being a moderator here isn't easy, unfortunately, mostly because it's a very thankless, and at times downright abusive, job. If more than one person volunteers, it's something I'll consider when choosing. :)
