Luggages were packed, and soon they were pulled out and loaded into the car. “Yuto, what is this?” Turning around the four boys were faced with Yuto’s father. The man had halted the maid who was pulling the luggage, as he glared at Yuto.
“Is it wrong to go on a school trip?”
“And don’t tell me Keito is going along too. He’s not in your school.”
“He’s coming with us, the teacher had allowed it. Problem, father?”
“Fine.”
With that last word, he turned and walked back into the mansion. Moving closer to the maid, Yuto whispered in a hushed tone. “Load the baggage quickly, now.”
***
He couldn’t help think that something was about to happen. But what was? Looking out of his office, he saw his son stepping into the car and it drove into the distance.
What he didn’t know was that he wouldn’t be seeing the four boys again.
“Master …” The maid at the front seat whispered, and in return, Yuto just turned to her. What she didn’t expect was a gentle smile on her master’s face. “Sorry for scaring you into our plan,” Pulling out an envelope, Yuto handed it to her.
She had immediately shook her head and passed that envelope back to Yuto when she saw the contents inside. Money. “I can’t accept this Yuto-sama!”
“Don’t worry, it’s your pay for helping us, and you wouldn’t have to go back to the Nakajima mansion to work anymore.” Keito leaned back into his seat as he looked out of the car. “Accept it Kana-san. You have a big family.” It was Ryosuke that spoke up. Kana smiled, and tears just flowed.
“Good job, Yuto-sama. You’re smiling more.”
“Shut up, Ryosuke.”
The car skidded and banged into the building.
***
“Nakajima-sama! Yuto-sama’s private car has just met with an accident!”
All chaos rose, as the ambulance arrived to bring the people out of the car. What surprised the workers was that the hands of Ryosuke and Yuto, and Ryutaro and Keito were held tightly together.
***
Kana was instructed to jump out of the car, thus she escaped with slight injuries. When she didn’t do what Yuto had shouted for her to do, Keito had immediately flung her out. At that moment, she saw Ryosuke mouthing a ‘Thank you’ to her, and Ryutaro smiling at her.
“NO!”
***
“HOW ARE THEY?” His voice boomed throughout the corridor, and he had earned some glares from the nurses. How can this happen? Why did this happen?
***
Kana had disappeared from the world that day.
***
“Let’s promise each other something.”
“What is it cousin?”
“Stop talking to Yuto-sama like this Keito!”
“Ryutaro let Yuto speak.”
“So let’s promise whatever happens, we’ll meet again.”
“Of course, my idiot cousin.”
“Keito watch your mouth.”
***
The four different beeping sound of their heart beat reverberated across the room. The dread could be felt. The nurses looked on at the four boys with sadness in their eyes. ‘They wouldn’t make it.’ Was what they were thinking.
After all, their heart beats were now slowly fading away into another world already.
***
Monitors started to ring, and chaos once again took over. All of their heart beats stopped at the same time, and that had sent nurses and doctors running against time. “WE HAVE TO SAVE THEM!”
“IT’S NOT WORKING!”
Shouts could be heard across the room, and it was really frequent that someone would go sprawling on the floor.
***
“I’m sorry Mr Nakajima, but we’ve done our best.” Yuto’s father just collapsed on the floor and saw the blanket covering over the four boys’ faces.
He knew they were trying to run away. He knew it all along. He was Yuto’s father after all. How could his son not pursue for his happiness? He found their plan in Yuto’s study room, but they were already gone. The next thing he knew was the accident.
He just lost his son and his nephew just like that. ‘I should’ve allowed them to be together …’ His cry of desperation echoed throughout the lonely halls of the hospital, as tears just flowed down his cheeks.
He was just a normal father crying at the lost of his child.
