Wow, it's the middle of November already. Time flies when you're having fun! Or procrastinating on writing a Secret Santa story! We mods hope that things are going very well for everyone working on their Secret Santa stories--which are due NOVEMBER 30, TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY!
We would love to know how things are going for all our writers as you put the finishing touches on your gift stories. Are you looking for a beta? Still writing but almost done? Still plotting and putting off the actual writing for the last minute (heaven forbid)? Feeling desperate and worried about the deadline?
Comments here are screened, so we would really appreciate if you could check in and give us an update on your status. If you need a hand with planning or a beta, maybe we can help. Or if you just need a sounding board and someone to hold your hand while we cheer you on, we can arrange that too!
Remember: Secret Santa is an exchange, but if something happens to prevent you from submitting your story by the deadline (and hey, life happens; we've all experienced it), then you must let the mods know PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE. If you notify us prior to the deadline that you're going to have to drop out of the exchange, that still gives us enough time to find a pinch hitter for your assignment. If you do not notify the mods of your need to drop out prior to the deadline, you will be banned from further participation in challenges and exchanges in the com.
Here are some things to keep in mind as you’re getting ready to submit:
1. Your fic MUST be a minimum of 2,500 words.
2. The fic MUST be no longer than 30K - or three Livejournal posts. You can test this on your own journal using private entries to make sure it fits.
3. The fic MUST be completed and not the first part of a massive multi-parter story. This is an exchange, and your fic should be complete, not a story with an IOU at the end.
4. The fic MUST have been beta-read by someone. If you are having trouble finding someone, ask the mods and we will find someone, or we'll post to th_fanfic to ask for volunteers.
5. If you have a banner, please place it inside the LJ cut because not all stories will have them.
6. We can accept DOC, rtf, Open Office files and Google Docs. If you cannot convert to one of these, contact a mod. If you are writing in "docx," please make sure to put in an extra hard return between paragraphs because .docx is weird and hates us. If you don’t put in an extra manual return, your story will post without a space between paragraphs.
7. We post in HTML, so if you want any special formatting, italics, bold, make sure it's included in your file. Check out this handy
html code chart if you're not sure what to use.
8. Include this header at the top of your submission:
Title: Author: Pairing(s): Rating: Warnings: Disclaimer: Summary: FQF Prompt: Author's notes: Remember, if you have any problems or questions, you can always reach us at thfanfic@gmail.com. You can also PM

Good luck and good writing!
