ADMIN: Secret Santa 2012 Sign-ups are OPEN
Your modly mods are in utter shock that this time is upon us yet again. How is it autumn already?? It's been such a roller coaster year, but hey, twins in DSDS, the band reunited - we've got a lot of great things to look forward to! Now let's start planning our holiday gift exchange.
Information about this year's Secret Santa Exchange is below the cut!
You need to be a member of th_fanfic in order to sign up for the fest. See the joining instructions if your membership hasn't been approved.
To sign up for the 2012 Secret Santa exchange, email thfanfic@gmail.com with the following information by Wednesday, October 3rd, midnight U.S. PDT:

On Friday, October 5th we will email each participant with the name of their recipient and the list of pairings/kinks/squicks their recipient submitted. Once you have completed your story and have had it beta'd, email the story to thfanfic@gmail.com.
STORIES ARE DUE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30th
The mods will start posting the stories in December (starting post date depending on how many participants we have), and will continue posting through Monday, December 24. On Christmas Day we will post a reveal of who wrote what fic.

If you want any formatting in your fic, such as bold or italics, please put in the html tags. We will only be cutting and pasting your fic directly from your document, not reformatting it. Also, please put your actual author name in the header and not ???. We will remove your name and put in the question marks ourselves, but it makes it much easier for us when we go back and add names to the stories if the names are already on the submissions.
We can accept DOC, rtf, and Open Office files. If you cannot convert to one of these, contact a mod. If you are submitting "docx," make sure to put in extra carriage return in between paragraphs because docx is weird and hates us - otherwise your story will post without a space between paragraphs.
PLEASE NOTE:
Secret Santa is an EXCHANGE. You are receiving a story you requested in exchange for writing one for someone else. If you do not submit a story, you will not receive one. It is not fair for one person to spend two months working hard on a story for someone else, only to be told that they're not going to get one in return because the person assigned to write their gift blew it off and didn't bother to let the mods know that they were bailing.
If you sign up and something happens to prevent you from submitting your story by the deadline (and hey, life happens; we've all experienced it) then you must let the mods know PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE. If you notify us prior to the deadline that you're going to have to drop out of the exchange, that still gives us enough time to find a pinch hitter for your assignment. If you do not notify the mods of your need to drop out prior to the deadline, you will be banned from further participation in challenges and exchanges in the comm for one year.
Also, because of an issue we experienced with a previous Secret Santa, there is a minimum word count on the stories. All stories must be at least 2500 words long. If you don't think you can write a story 2500 words long, then we would request that you wait until we're doing a prompt grab or regular challenge to participate. Stories have a maximum of 30,000 or three LJ posts' worth.
What if I don't write slash?
You do not have to read or write slash to be included in this exchange. If you would like the fic your author writes you to be gen, just note that in your special requests list. If you only want to write gen, note that as well. If you want het, you may also request that, although we ask that you be aware that we might have trouble assigning someone to write your fic if that's the only thing you'll accept, since the majority of our authors seem to be slash writers. We will, however, make every effort to accommodate you, so if you want het and are willing to write it in return, sign up!
