Paganism, Halloween, and Samhain

Eeeeeee!!

Most of you know that my favorite holiday EVEEEEER is Halloween. I love everything about it... getting a chance to let out your inner spook (because I only dress up as creepy, weird things :P), the controversy about it being satanic or not, the smell (yes, I associate things by their smell XD Sometimes Ill walk outside earlier in the year and say, "Ooooh, it smells like Halloween (or Christmas) tonight"... because Im odd), the pumpkins, the excitement, knowning that the veil between worlds is thinning, the candy, the dull glow of jack-o-lanterns, watching my uncles crazy awesome Halloween yard be put together, the scariness, the chance to buy things that I plan on using in my home all year once I get a place of my own (I plan on having a spooky, gothic-esque home), the baked goods, the parties, etc, etc.

I also love its history, and what Halloween actually is; the pagan festival for Samhain which is on November 1. Ive never really celebrated Samhain... besides a spell or two every other year or so. Its something Ive wanted to celebrate since I first started transitioning from Christianity to Paganism (or, at the time, Wicca), but never got around to it... nor really had a place to celebrate the way I wanted to.

Wayne and I were discussing it yesterday. I asked him if hed mind celebrating the day after Halloween with me and sure enough, he was totally up for it. So we're going to go to the mountain, make a fire, roast marshmallows, make various celebratory foods over the fire (like potatoes and apple pancakes) while telling spooky stories, discussing life and death, and honoring those who have gone before us.

Im super excited about this ^_^ I love camping already, but adding my love of spookiness and my fascination with death to it will be a GREAT time.

Gaaah, the thought of potatoes and apple pancakes is making me hungry O_O
