Rules and Deadlines

Dec 17, 2012 18:36

This is shamelessly modelled after last year's post by achika_chan, because why waste a good post? The schedule is also very much the same as last year, since selfishly based on my own experience, I think it worked very well. If you have any suggestions/complaints/comments/nits to pick, feel free to drop me a line and we can shift things around if need to be.

TGWTG Big Bang 2013

  • The goal is to write a 10,000 word fic. Everyone who completes the challenge on time will be rewarded with a soundtrack/fanmix or fanart made especially for their fic. 10,000 is the minimum requirement, but if you want to write more, I am in no way going to stop you. In fact, it's strictly adviced, because the more the merrier, right?
  • Stories can be het, gen, slash, AU, anything goes. Crossovers with other fandoms are awesome, but the main focus and/or pairing must be from this fandom.
  • The goal is to write new fanworks, but you can use your old ideas or drafts, as long as the fic hasn't been previously published.
  • Co-writing is absolutely allowed, and the collaborative wordcount minimum is still 10,000 words.
  • Sign-ups for authors will open on Dec 24th and close on Jan 14th. If you absolutely want to participate as a writer after the sign-ups have closed, shoot me a message and you can probably play.
  • Sign-ups for fanmixers and artists will open on February 11th and remain open until March 23rd. Writers may also sign up to be fanmixers or artists. If you want to participate as an artist/a mixer after the sign-ups have closed, message me and you can probably join.
  • On March 18th, the completed fic must be emailed to the mod so that it can be assigned to a fanmixer or artist. This does not have to be the betaed, edited, polished, completely final form, but it must have already reached 10,000 words and be about 90 per cent done, so that it can be safely assigned to the fanmixer or artist, and so that the fanmixer or artist has a close to finished fic to work from.
  • Mixers/artists will then claim a fic/fics based on their summaries; the claim post will appear on March 23rd and remain open until 25th or when all fics have been claimed thrice, whichever comes first.
  • You have a four week period from March 18th -- until April 15th -- to have your fic finished and edited if it wasn't already. This is also the four week period the fanmixers and artists will use to work their magic.
  • Fan mixes should be at least 10 songs. Cover art is not required, but if you want to include it, awesome! Artists are only required to create one piece of art.
  • Writers can drop out at any time before the first draft deadline on March 18th and everything will be cool.
  • For the off-chance that any artist/mixer should drop out: if you're extra-nice, in the artist/mixer sign-up post, you can also sign-up to double as a Knight In Shining Armor, i.e. the one who makes the last minute art/mix should it be needed. This is not obligatory by any means, nor is claiming more than one fic, but it would reduce the stress levels of the mod.
  • On April 15th, all final fic versions and all fan art and fan mixes are due, and posting begins on April 20th. To avoid a flood of fics, writers will be assigned a posting day, and they're also responsible for posting the art/mix with the fic.
Other things:
  • There are no prompts/themes/restrictions for the challenge, but if you're completely lost for inspiration, you can always search the Kink Meme prompt post (or the Unfilled prompt archive) and see if anything strikes your fancy. Also, you can check out what people wrote last year.
  • Unless people ask for a new post, the chatter post for venting about your stories, art and mixes, asking for advice, and cheering each other on is right here. Just pick off where we left last year. :D
  • Similarly, unless there's a need for new post, the beta post is here. If you're willing to beta someone's story or if you're looking for someone to beta your story, chat away!
