90s Kid awoke with a start when he heard the soft moaning coming from beside him. “Whuz wrong?” he mumbled, still half asleep, before he realized the man lying on his chest was trembling. “Dan?” 90s Kid reached out to stroke his cheek and gasped when he felt how damp it was. “Dan, wake up man! You’re scaring me, dude!”
“Ah!” Dan’s eyes burst open and he sat up, breathing heavily as he wrapped his arms around himself. “What?” He peered around wildly before realizing where he was and who he was with. “Oh, Kid…”
“Dan, are you okay?” 90s Kid sat up as well, his eyes brimming with confusion and worry. “You were moaning and shaking and, like, crying, dude. What’s wrong? Tell me, please!”
“I-it was,” Dan said, his breathing already starting to slow, “a bad… dream…”
Dan released himself from his self-hug only to instantly be wrapped in one by 90s Kid. “Oh dude. I’m so sorry,” he murmured, nuzzling Dan’s cheek softly. “You wanna talk about it?”
Dan closed his eyes and melted into the younger man’s embrace. “P-please Kid… tell me you love me… tell me… I need to hear it…”
“I love you, Dan. I love you so much.” 90s Kid’s grip around him tightened and kissed Dan softly. “I love you more than anyone in the world, dude. You’re mine forever and ever.”
Dan smiled, not his trademark grin but a genuine shaky smile, as one last set of tears slipped out. “Thank you.”
“Anything for you, Dan.”
They lay back down together, Dan still enveloped in the teen’s embrace, 90s Kid repeating how much he loved Dan until exhaustion overtook them both.
90s Kid passed out first with Dan following soon after, but before Dan’s eyes closed, he caught sight of the pink dawn sky and the sun slowly peeking out over the horizon.
