Loree’s computer
I have no idea how to fix Loree’s computer.
I’m afraid that files are being deleted, as CHKDSK runs.
I wish I knew if it was a virus or a hard drive fail.
I also wish I had a back-up that was more current than 2 weeks ago, or had her hard drives mirrored or something.
Nothing shows up when I run a virus scan.
I even ran a live scan from the Norton website - i.e. not just from what’s installed on the hard drive, which could be infected.
It’s running through CHKDSK again, finding more crap and saying things like “windows replaced bad clusters in the file.. .. ..” or “[File] is cross-linked” or “Folder Entry Removed” (the latter beingv the one I’m most concerned about.
We do not have Norton Utilities or anything like that. I’m not even sure I can get the damn thing to boot to Windows - even in safe mode.
I’m freaked and don’t know what to do.
I’m also feeling really badly/guilty because I feel like it IS my responsibility to keep her computer up and running - and I’ve failed.
