UK, London: Service for LGBT people who have experienced violence

Nov 09, 2006 11:34

From an e-mail.

Hi,

I wanted to get in touch to let you know about my new post at Galop as the 'dedicated Sexual Abuse Caseworker'.

Galop gives assistance to LGBT victims of hate crime and this new service is specifically set up to provide advice and advocacy to lesbians, gay men, bisexual and Trans people who have experienced sexual abuse in the Greater London area. We are able to help report incidents, whether people have suffered recently or at some point in their past. Help with reporting incidents to the police is a free confidential service and, if they wish, people can remain anonymous.

I also provide advice to victims about steps they can take to safeguard their health; in order to do this, we are working closely with The Havens and make suitable referrals to other LGBT-friendly services as necessary.

I am currently trying to increase awareness of this service throughout LGBT communities and find as much information as possible about the sexual health services available.

If you have any questions about this service or want more information please e-mail me at annie_h_0@yahoo.co.uk.

Kindest Regards,
Annie
