A very social weekend--a very successful Priest Salon, organized by blue_jay, just before he set off for Googland. theoldone and I spoke at length about the idea of being Pagan men, not that we really call ourselves priests, but we are to some extent leaders within the community. I'm not sure that many of the PSA folks had ever heard me talk about my own beliefs, practices and aspirations; I know I haven't talked much about my pre-Pagan history. I take it as a great compliment that they had a hard time imagining me as maladjusted. We all learned a lot about theoldone 's history too; as he is very much an Elder in our community, he has a solid historical perspective. I tried to keep sort of a running  interview with him, as he brought up points I was curious about as a listener. Thanks, blue_jay, for putting that together. I hope no one found our ramblings boring...I don't think of myself as wiser than most (quite the opposite!) but the benefit we do have is that we have simply lived longer than the college-age young men and women. And with the greater number of years lived there necessarily come a great number of stories, adventures and embarrassments to chat about. I've gotten into plenty of escapades with the clear anticipation of the stories I can tell about them later!

We all decided quite abruptly that it was time for the dinner feast; J brought a huge box of fried chicken, pizzas were procured by  A and faeryeprincess  , and we settled into the business of blue_jay's going-away party. As The MacGoogle of Clan MacGoogle, he is bound to establish himself in the land of the Western Ocean, to carve out a name and a reputation for himself. My lad, you have indeed done magnificently. Although I neglected to say goodbye to you properly, know that we already miss your quiet wry wit. We have seen you grow into yourself considerably, especially in the last year or so. And, through the magic of LJ, we can keep in touch just fine. We look forward to hearing tales of mighty exploits, of the plunder of the vast Empire of Microsoft, and perhaps a cattle raid or two!

We're going to have to knock off these salons though...every time we do one, someone else moves away!

The next day, it was a fine thing to have A and L come over for breakfast with greeneyedpagan and theoldone; endora made some impressive waffles, which were scarfed with great gusto.

One new CD-printer later, and my home CD production factory is ready to start cranking out my second album en masse!

Oh--and we did get out to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" at (where else?) the Alamo, and were very pleased with it. I'm trying not to compare the two versions very much, as I loved the first one quite a lot too, but it's very different in tone, mostly in the portrayal of  Willy Wonka. True, Johnny Depp can do no wrong, but Gene Wilder--who can deny his greatness?
