The town I live in recently put red reflector strips on the post of every stop sign so that you shouldn't fail to notice this big red reflective thing in front of you.
Other towns have their own craziness of overdoing things.
A few examples:
The following almost makes sense, since in Florida there are several gated communities for plane owners. These communities have their own runways, and often have a hanger at most of the houses. I've seen planes barely clear the privacy hedge of the community, so this may be a legitimate sign:
Are you really allowed to park on the sidewalk if there isn't a sign?
They should really consider renaming one or both of these towns...
As if a little pre-guilt will make people more careful around work zones...
Unless you live in rural Pennsylvania or similar, this sign could take a bit of thinking. On the other hand, if it's in New York City, they are probably warning you to watch your step. (Sad fact: in NYC they make the horses wear diapers.)
Every town has at least one of these, but does it warrant a sign?
I have some memory problems (as do a lot of other drivers). I don't think that I'd remember the speed limits beyond the first mile..
Is the second half of this sign really necessary?
And while not a real sign, one of my favorites...
