Actually, Physics is not technically over. But one semester is over! and thats good enough reason to celebrate. My family has once again left me, this time they went up to Orcas to see my grandmother. Hopefully, I'll also be up there in a few weeks! (I'm sure Madeline will keep you all posted on my families adventures!)
My mom, JC, Rebecca and I went to a Rivercats game last night. It was SO fun! Especially the dancing umpire and huge guy dressed in a bird costume. :-) Though, I noticed two things which i found unsettling..
1)EVERYTHING was convered in ads. and during pauses in the game, they'd air commercials over the loudspeaker. as well as showing ads on a huge screen above the stadium. and everything was, sponsered by this company, or broght to you because of that company.
2) Sports games are not just about the sports..they're also HUGE entertainment industries...dancing mascots, free food, entertainment between every inning..heck even during the innings.
I mean, i had fun and all the extra entertainment was funny--I enjoyed it. but i wonder how prof sports players feel about this. do they like it? or do they feel it distracts from the sport? do they ever wish people would just come and be satisfied watching them play?
I disliked all the commercials, but I guess somebody has to pay for the stadium..still seems sad when the free Coldstone ice-cream man gets more cheers than the players.
