Welcome to tg_crack - can I get you coffee, tea, or something stronger?

This comm exists because I thought it would be good to have a mostly flocked community for RPS fic and other creative insanity that doesn't really fit into the guidelines for topgearslash or has no other home, but would like a wider circulation than on a flocked personal journal ( Read more... )

I did a thing. It's in the info. I'm now gonna work on the layout. Apologies if it changes wildly from on refresh to the next, and if it looks like crap.

I am fail at teh coding nonsense. XD

The user info looks splendid - I love the TADA supporting Jezzas!

I have added custard to our interests ;-)

There is no fail, only detours on the way to Nirvana ♥

I kept it simple. And it was much easier this time 'cause it's in the new version, not the old, unsupported one. =D

I think I'm gonna put a link to this post in the info for anyone who has questions.

Should we memory the fics and art and stuff? Or stick with just tags?

The layout looks great to me, honey - thanks ever so much ♥

The TGS system of memories by author seems to work well - unless Ash and Draco go completely frantic we shouldn't have too much trouble keeping up.

I fixed the comm name in the user info - do we want to have some disclaimer about how you have to have had enough birthdays and be broad-minded to join?

I dunno about the birthdays bit. I mean, I started looking at slash things when I was but a youngling and look at me n... okay, perhaps. But if we keep it tight and friends-locky, we shouldn't have to worry about the 'adult content' thing Lj's obsessed with. I don't want to alienate any 15 year olds 'cause society at large feels they wouldn't be able to handle something. Also, if an author or creator of other crack things thinks youngins shouldn't look, then they can individually adult-content somefink.

The broad-minded thing, though. That's a must. Maybe put a warning about if they don't come here with an open mind then their mind will most likely be cracked open by the sheer force of lunacy emanating from the comm. Or something less cheesey.

I agree with you really - slashers are born, not made ;-)

More practically, I have no way of checking anyone's real age on LJ, and I don't see how I ever can. The 'adult content' things is an arse-covering exercise on LJ's part IMNSHO - if we state that all comm members should say that they are of age in thei jurisdiction then I think that should do.

The font has gone rather hard to read (on my setup anyway).

Is it any better now?

uk_sef March 16 2008, 22:51:33 UTC
Yes, that font's back to being readable now.

However, I don't get to see much of the background image mentioned by ElfWhistleTree (plus it seemed to take a long time to load at all). It's probably because I don't quite have a full-screen window (nor even the largest ever screen resolution). So it gets covered up by the title and entry panels.

If you want to see pictures on the side, then you need a bigger window - it's really just decoration. We need to keep some space for decent sized writing in the posts window.

Don't know why it's slow for you - mine's OK, and isn't your connection practically identical?

uk_sef March 16 2008, 23:23:48 UTC
I wouldn't have thought my connection was identical. We already know of some significant differences. It might have been an intermittent issue anyway. It's just that there was no sign of what you were talking about for quite a while - it really did happen to take a long time to (half) appear behind the panels. Generally I wouldn't include big images myself at all - partly because there are still people in the world on dial-up connections (and I'm old enough to know the "rules" on coding web pages accordingly).

It loaded fine for me, but I'm missing most of it, too, even with a maxed out window. This is what I get for buying the tiniest Mac ever made ever! I usually have to scroll to see large images anyway and miss out on backgrounds and things, so I don't mind, but I wanted to let you know you weren't alone in your lack of antennae-ed Stig. :)

I downloaded the image to look at it, though, and It. Is. BEAUTIFUL!

I like the be-antennaed Stig too :-)

Stigs are clearly beetles or similar insectoid life-forms - great compound eye and rapid reflexes (and who knows about the extra limbs ...).

omg! the dancing james, richard, oliver, stig and squid!!?!!?!1!ONE! you're responsible for them, i understand? heeeeee! i am mesmerised by them! :D

(and feel a lack of crack in my icon collection. i think something needs to be done.)

Something MUST BE DONE about this. Although, Fossil, and Boosh in general is rather a huge crackfest, so those icons nearly count as crack by default.

Would you like me to make you a cracky icon? I don't know what you'd like on it.
