I went to Arizona State University and I absolutely adored it. The campus wasn't even like a campus--it was state-of-the-art, safe, and HUGE. The town of Tempe (outside of Phoenix) was nice too. It reminded me of New York City except a lot safer and less crowded. And the heat? OMG. I love dry heat. Seriously, it makes so much of a difference. I came back to NJ and i was like Bleehhhhhh humidity!
I met with the coach, Jordan, twice. The first night I was there, he called me and said "HEY! come bowl with the boys ASU team at 10! It'll be on a PBA pattern!" I immediately freaked out: 1. I haven't bowled on a sport shot in a looong time. 2. 10 was more like 1 for me because of the time change. But it worked out. Jordan liked me a lot, and liked the way I threw it. The boys were so nice too. I also met Mike Haugen, who is a PBA pro! He helped me out a lot. Such nice guys. In fact, a bunch of them were going to a tournament in Las Vegas that weekend, and wanted me to go. I kind of blew it off at first, but then my dad said he'd like me to bowl in it. After the second time I saw the coach, I decided that I definitely would. So, my mother spent 4 hours on the phone canceling reservations and making new ones. FOUR hours. I love my parents. My dad didnt even bat an eyelash to spend all the extra money just to take me to a tournament, and my mother went through ALL of the stupid on-hold phone calls. I love them. They love me.
So Thursday night, instead of going home, we drove a rental car to Las Vegas--5 hour drive through the desert. The desert is really beautiful and unlike anything I've ever seen--probably most of you either. I bowled okay--didn't make cut, but I really enjoyed myself. I enjoyed seeing people I haven't seen in so long. I bowled in a side tournament with head to head matches and kicked some girl and some boys ass...then I bowled against this boy who shot 300 earlier that week and JUST lost to him.daaamnn. but it feels good to be back into competition mode. BY the way, LAS VEGAS was beautiful. I haven't been there in 10 years, and it was exceptionally great. I have pictures. I'll post them some other time.
