Neverhood: Never Again!

Well, "never again" is probably not an accurate statement. ddmerillat and I just finished The Neverhood. I no longer remember when we started, but I think finished in under fifteen hours. I've had the game since, oh, the late '90s, but I'd only made it about one-third of the way through. The breakthrough this time was decoding "BOBBY" written on the side of a machine. That done, we made oodles and oodles of progress, often by taking extensive notes. I'm furious to read now in a walkthrough that we could've skipped a lot of the effort on one of the puzzles if we'd picked up on a very subtle cue. Solving it comprehensively was probably more rewarding, though. We did resort to the cheat sheet once, but only because we were 100% sure we'd tried everything, and we knew we were really, really close to the end. We also knew that this was the last chance to solve the game before 2004. We only needed one key word from the walkthrough before we figured out what was missing. Sigh!
