Microphone Test Inconclusive
The jukebox has a record feature. Yes, it records direct to MP3 to the local hard drive from the analog line in, the digital line in, or the built-in microphone. The built-in mic is surprisingly good, but its utility is limited by the noise within the jukebox, including the spinning of the hard drive and the moving of the drive heads. At the party on Saturday, somebody had a Minidisc unit with a microphone, and I asked to test his mic with the jukebox. I was very surprised to hear that the amount of drive noise was the same! A day later, I noticed that the jukebox does not automatically select the line in just because something is plugged in there. D'oh! Since this mic was unpowered, it almost certainly wouldn't've worked. Sigh.
