Life's Littlest Victories: Check Engine
I don't know quite how it happens, but periodically my car's gas cap gets loose. It's not clear to me if this is because I didn't tighten it enough after refilling or if it comes loose later. Either way, the first few times it happened, the CHECK ENGINE light sent me scurrying to a garage to find out what it was. When it happened again the last time, I tightened the cap. To my dismay, the light still didn't go out. When I took it in for repairs, they told me that the car won't turn off the light until the symptom has been gone for a few dozen starts. Ah. The CHECK ENGINE light went on a little over a week ago. I tightened the gas cap, which was noticeably loose, and waited it out. Monday night, the light was off. Woo!
