Suckers, Despair!
I walk past the office of co-worker M. a few times a week. We haven't had much occasion to talk, but we're friendly when we do. I noticed at some point that she had a motivational calendar on the wall next to her computer. Not being the type who enjoys them, I didn't pay much attention. Today I walked past and noticed that this month's inspirational photo was an Aztec pyramid. The key principle was "Sacrifice". This made me stop in my tracks. That had to be a joke. Indeed, it was. All year, I've been thinking it was a traditional motivational calendar, when it turns out to be a Despair.com calendar. Ha! I used to keep careful watch on their new designs, but haven't paid much attention recently. Thus, I didn't recognize any of the earlier months of the year. I felt like quite the sucker for having thought her a sucker for having a sappy calendar.
