Monday: Car, Court, and Candy

Oct 31, 2005 20:17

Mondays aren't usually particularly bad for me. Today, though, was solidly a Monday. It started when my car failed to start. Instead of the traditional lack of electrical power, this sounded more like a lack of either oil or gas. Having filled the tank Friday night and driven less than a tenth of a mile since then, the problem had to be getting the fuel from the tank to the engine. I called the garage to ask if there was anything I could try to get it started, hoping just to limp the two miles to the garage. They suggested that I have it towed, since there were no good stop-gap solutions for those symptoms. *sigh*

Then I got to work and read about the new Supreme Court nominee. *sigh*

And then the garage never called to tell me what might be wrong. *sigh*

I got a ride home from co-worker Jay, who had to be somewhere, requiring him to drop me off while trick-or-treating was in full swing. I wasn't expecting to be home so early, so I hadn't bought any candy. Not having my car, I didn't have the option of going out and getting any candy. And of course, when we pulled up, kids were walking up the driveway I share with my neighbor. I snuck in through the garage as quickly as possible and have been walking around in the dark and talking on the phone for forty-five minutes, unable to prepare dinner without giving away my presence. *sigh*
