Momentous Boggle: Sleights!

Mar 03, 2005 00:44

ddmerillat and I play a lot of Boggle. Quite a bit. I think we're averaging six rounds per session, and probably at least five sessions per week. Recently, we seem to alternate who crushes the other from night to night. Tonight was scheduled to be a night of Dave crushing me, and it started that way: 12-8 him followed by 20-15 him. We commented on the 3/2 and 4/3 and wondered if the next round would be 5/4. Nope . . . I turned it around. 15-11 me (steely vs. goatee), 22-17 me (ducat and ducal vs. calling and gloat), 13-9 him (hipper and hippo vs. bopper), 5-1 him (malty). At the five-to-one ratio, Dave recalled a time when I beat him seven-to-one: 35-5. I couldn't quite recall that one, but I'd guess it wasn't long after we started playing.

The last round of the night proved absurdly decisive. It had sleigh, sleighs, sleight and sleights on it. Sleights is my first eight-letter word in Boggle since he and I started playing. Dave hadn't noticed the "ght". The final score for the round was an astonishing 57-2.
