Hey casusfere, Waterspout's watching movies again!
Sorry this is so late in coming - I had a beautiful idea... and then the renaissance festival ate my head - and the actual season doesn't start until May 17th!
At any rate, my appologies. He's not as finished and awesome as I'd intended.
He walked in on a conversation between a pair of EMTs having coffee in a small kitchen.
"He's watching the kids again, and you know how he gets when the movie ends..."
"Yeah, yeah. Squirlly as the girls back home about being clean." The rookie watched the older of the two EMTs make a face as he said 'clean,' and chose that moment to make his presence known.
"'Scuse me, sirs? I'm here for a new assignment?"
The two medics turned to look at the rookie, and then grinned at each other simultaneously.
"Excellent. Welcome to Kodiak. Ever washed a Jayhawk before?"
"Ah... yes...?" No way this was ending well.
"Perfect. As soon as the movie is over, you can wash 'Spout."
"Sir?"
"Nobody briefed you, huh rookie? C'mon." The other medic, quiet until then, took the rookie by the arm and led him out of the small kitchen/office and into the heart of the hangar. "Waterspout hates being sticky, so when the movie's over and the kids leave, he'll want a wash. As the rookie, that's your job."
Said rookie wondered if he'd been assigned to a base of crazies as they approached a Jayhawk.
And then they walked behind it, and past another, and then the kid nearly fell over. Lying on its stomach, blades flat to its spine, was a giant robot with the 17th's emblem on his sides. A small group of kids used the robot as a couch as kids and robot alike watched a pirate movie on one of the biggest televisions the rookie had ever seen.
"Meet Waterspout." The older EMT said with a grin, and then went back to his coffee.
